The post of Senior Research Scientist (Digital Health and AI Platform Lead) is a senior role on the EMBRACE study led by Professor Josip Car. This research post carries both research and operational responsibilities, including delivering against research objectives, providing technical leadership with strategic oversight, managing digital platform vendors, and ensuring alignment between the digital platform and research objectives.
The post holder will drive the design, development and implementation of scalable AI‑driven platforms that support translational research, clinical decision support and patient‑centric digital health solutions. They will work cross‑functionally with data scientists, clinical researchers, software engineers, product managers and external partners to conceptualise and deliver novel AI technologies, navigating complex data sets, ensuring model robustness and compliance, and aligning digital innovation with unmet clinical and healthcare needs.
This is a high‑impact position offering the opportunity to shape the future of digital health and precision medicine through responsible AI, translational insights and scalable digital infrastructure.

About You
Essential criteria
- PhD in digital health, AI or a closely related discipline within the context of healthcare.
- Expertise in digital health, AI, wearable technology and strong understanding of multimodal data analysis.
- Evidence of aptitude for leading large‑scale digital health research projects.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7 and related regulatory requirements.
- Leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience with cloud‑based infrastructure for large‑scale data processing and analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience conveying complex concepts to experts and lay members of the public.
- Knowledge of the research ethics process and regulatory environment relevant to the EMBRACE programme.
Desirable criteria
- Experience using User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design to create digital products that are both functional and visually appealing.
