UKRI CDT in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence Manager - INTERNAL ONLY in City of Westminster

Working closely with academic leadership, King's Doctoral College, Imperial College London, funders and external partners, the postholder will oversee the full student lifecycle, manage programme finances and governance processes, and ensure the effective delivery of doctoral training, cohort development and stakeholder engagement activities.

The STAI CDT Manager will manage the CDT's finances and provide timely financial projections and reports on the status of the grant as well as ensure all financial transactions with Imperial are executed accurately and in a timely fashion. The postholder will also manage the funding provided by institutional partners and external industry partners.

The CDT manager will provide high-level support to the CDT's Management team, including: managing the annual cycle of work, providing information and advice, drafting reports, collating and analysing information and statistics and contributing to reports required by the funder, and internally by King's.

The CDT Manager will act as first point of contact for CDT students and will be the first point of contact for the CDT Management Team, and central King's Services, such as Admissions, Student Records, King's Doctoral College, external partners.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience,

1. First degree or other appropriate qualifications
2. Demonstrable experience of managing a varied workload, balancing competing priorities and delivering accurate outputs to multiple deadlines.
3. Experience of building effective working relationships and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve programme or organisational objectives.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
5. Demonstrable experience of independently managing operational processes, identifying improvements and resolving issues using sound judgement.
6. Experience of programme governance and project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and delivery of complex activities, preferably within a higher education or research environment.
7. Experience and confidence in handling multiple, complex budgets - excellent analytical and numeracy skills
8. Knowledge of postgraduate research administration and funding, including an understanding of doctoral training programmes, studentships and/or UKRI-funded activity.

Desirable criteria

1. Postgraduate level qualification; a management qualification;
2. Knowledge of university student and finance data systems; content management systems (website); external UKRI database (Studentships Data System).
3. Experience in developing communication strategies, such as effective use of social media and websites
4. Experience of working with UKRI/EPSRC-funded programmes or doctoral training partnerships.

The UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence (STAI) is an exciting collaboration between King's College London and Imperial College London, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and led by King's.

The STAI CDT has supported the training of more than 50 PhD researchers working at the forefront of safe, trusted and responsible Artificial Intelligence. The Centre brings together expertise across disciplines and institutions, providing an intellectually stimulating environment in which doctoral researchers develop cutting-edge research skills while addressing some of the most important challenges facing AI and society.

As the CDT moves into its final phase, the focus is now on supporting our existing cohort of doctoral researchers through to completion and into the next stages of their careers. This is an exciting opportunity to join the CDT at an important stage of its development and to play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery and completion of this flagship UKRI-funded programme.
