We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence (MRC CoRE) in Human Neural Development as Senior Research Culture, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (CEDI) Officer. The Centre brings together researchers, clinicians, patients and families across three world‑leading universities: King's College London, University College London and The University of Manchester. Funded for 14 years, the Centre will investigate the neurobiological principles governing human brain maturation during early development. Research Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is central to the Centre's mission, supported by a dedicated CEDI Lead and a dynamic action plan, to ensure that the Centre is inclusive, equitable and responsive to the communities it serves. The post holder will coordinate the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the Centre's Research Culture and CEDI action plan across this multi‑site programme. Working closely with the CEDI Lead, Centre leadership, workstream leads, professional services colleagues and public contributors, they will help turn strategic commitments into practical, measurable and evidence‑informed activity. A central part of the role will be to support implementation of the action plan. This will include coordinating activities across the three universities, supporting panels and working groups, developing delivery trackers, maintaining evidence sources, collecting and summarising data, and contributing to evaluation of reach, adoption, feasibility, implementation and impact. The post holder will help ensure that Centre activities are inclusive, accessible and aligned with the Equality Act 2010, and that equity considerations are embedded in recruitment, development, training, communications, public involvement and reporting. The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, confidence working with diverse stakeholders, and the ability to use qualitative and quantitative information to support learning and improvement. It will suit someone with experience in research culture, equality, diversity and inclusion, public involvement, implementation, evaluation or complex programme coordination. The post will be based in the Department of Community & Health Systems Science in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine and will be line managed by Professor Seeromanie Harding. The Department has substantial expertise in the implementation and evaluation of complex systems interventions locally and internationally, with a strong emphasis on equity and improving access to development opportunities across academic and professional‑services staff. It is also the academic home of Professor Emily Williams, Vice Dean (People & Culture) and Professor of Diversity, Development and Inclusion, providing access to wider expertise and research‑culture initiatives across King's and the university sector. This is a part‑time post (17.5 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed‑term contract until 30 September 2033. The Equality Act of 2010 protects the rights of our students and staff and provides a framework to fulfil our duties to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and in addition, to advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between those who share a protected characteristic and those who do not. At times, this will include balancing rights and beliefs that can feel in tension. We are committed to free speech and to academic freedom, believing that our foundational purpose as a university is to create spaces where a wide range of ideas, including ideas that are controversial, can be discussed and debated, and where members of our community can express lawful views without fear of intimidation, harassment or discrimination. When engaging in the robust exchange of ideas, we ask that our community is mindful of our Dignity at King's guidance.
