About the role

The Business Manager will support the effective and smooth running of King's Digital’s business operations. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Operations and Strategy and Director of Operations to support the delivery of the department’s strategic, operational and financial objectives, while overseeing key areas including finance, HR, procurement, resources, compliance and business continuity.

You will co-ordinate and contribute to the effective delivery of business operations, provide insight and advice to support planning and decision-making, and manage a range of strategic and operational projects to support the continued development of King's Digital.

The role is primarily based at JCMB on the King's Waterloo Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. King's has a hybrid working scheme where staff may be able to work remotely for part of the week, as determined by required output and departmental need.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until November 2027.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience in operations, project management or business support administration
  2. Highly numerate and literate with strong attention to detail; and adept at understanding, analysing and presenting complex data to a wide-ranging audience
  3. Experience of managing large complex budgets and monitoring and acting on financial performance
  4. Experience growing, leading and managing individuals and / or teams
  5. Excellent communication skills, including ability to draft policy and process, present confidently in a variety of formats and to a wide variety of stakeholders
  6. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise effectively and deliver work personally and through others to tight deadlines and within budget.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with and influence a wide variety of stakeholders
  8. Commitment to continuous improvement and building an efficient and effective operational service

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working in Higher Education, research, academic, or other non-profit sectors

£53,947 to £63,350 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
