The Estates Planning & Development (EPD) team sits within the wider Estates & Facilities Directorate and plays a pivotal role in shaping the physical environment of the university. EPD is responsible for the planning and delivery of capital projects that support King’s strategic ambitions, including enhancing teaching, research, and student experience. The team is currently undergoing a transformation to build a more integrated, resilient, and professional in-house delivery function, aligned with best practice and institutional priorities. About the role:
The Associate Director, Estates Planning & Development, is a key leadership role within King’s College London’s Estates & Facilities Directorate. Reporting to the Director of Real Estate Development, this post is responsible for the successful delivery of capital projects and estate development programmes that support the university’s strategic priorities, including King’s Vision 2029.
This role provides operational oversight and tactical leadership across a portfolio of complex, high-value projects. You will lead and manage a team of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and external consultants, ensuring that all projects are delivered to scope, on time, and within budget. Acting as the critical link between strategic direction and project execution, you will embed best practice in project governance, risk management, and performance monitoring.
The Associate Director will play a central role in aligning estate development with institutional goals, ensuring that projects support academic, research, and operational needs. You will be responsible for maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, driving innovation in delivery models, and integrating sustainability and digital estate management into project execution.
