We are seeking a highly motivated professional to co‑lead on the delivery of the large‑scale programme and associated projects of the Data & Digital Alliance Team (DIGIT) of the Mental Health Goals Programme. DIGIT-MHG is part of a UKRI funded programme to create an innovative alliance between people with mental health conditions – whose views are often not prioritised – and industry – who face unparalleled challenges in mental health R&D – to accelerate precision psychiatry and deliver valuable new treatments that work for those who need them.
The Alliance Manager will join a team that includes experts in industry collaborations, trials, experimental medicine and patient and public involvement. The role requires a knowledgeable professional in the development and delivery of digital and data tools for trials, with the ability to forge effective working relationships with collaborators and interdisciplinary academic teams working on related MHG workstreams.
This is a full‑time post available from 1st of May 2026 and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st March 2030. The Alliance Manager will work closely with the wider team to co‑lead the delivery of the DIGIT‑MHG: working with digital and pharmaceutical industry partners, coordinating funding applications, partner visits, liaising with stakeholders, event and project management.
The Alliance Manager will lead on developing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships with industry in the area of data and digital tools for mental health and neurological disorders, ranging from discovery research, planning and conducting trials, clinical pathways and implementation. The post‑holder will leverage their knowledge to identify areas of development and develop appropriate connections through networks, conferences, events, etc.
They will work closely with the Alliance Manager (pharma), and the coordinator who will lead day‑to‑day operations for DIGIT‑MHG: working with a range of industry partners, identifying funding opportunities, partner visits, liaising with stakeholders, designing events and project plans. The alliance manager will be expected to prioritise the operational workload, allocate resources, take day‑to‑day decisions and appropriately delegate tasks, escalating risks and challenges appropriately.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
- Essential criteria
- Postgraduate Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline.
- Proven track record in project management and leadership.
- Demonstrable expertise with industry sector.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment for novel therapeutics.
- Ability and confidence to work independently and build professional networks.
- Excellent stakeholder communication; service‑oriented and clear under time pressure.
- Organised, detail‑driven, able to manage competing deadlines and solve problems pragmatically.
- Ability to manage through influence and negotiation in a complex environment.
- Desirable criteria
- Experience working in Mental Health or Neurological Disorders.
- Prior exposure to NHS/academic multi‑centre studies.
- Experience in the mental health charity sector, including patient and public involvement.
- Resilience, determination and diplomacy.
- High level of work organisation, self‑motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
