About Us
This is an exciting time to join the London Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP), an Economic & Social Sciences Research Council (ESRC) funded multi-institutional collaboration, led by King’s College London in partnership with Queen Mary University of London and Imperial College London. The role is based at the King’s Doctoral College in the LISS DTP team.
About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to cover Assistant Manager (Training) maternity leave, with a passion for managing a high-quality portfolio of PhD training and a commitment to supporting students to receive a great doctoral experience. We welcome both internal and external applications and will also consider this as a secondment opportunity.
Working with and supporting the LISS DTP Deputy Director for Training and the Training Committee, the post holder coordinates the delivery of the LISS DTP Conceptual, General and Specialist Research Training Programme, including curriculum planning and development, scheduling delivery, liaising with course convenors, and supporting the Deputy Director to evaluate and review the training provision to meet student training needs across the partner institutions including the Development Needs Analysis framework related work.
The post holder leads all training related projects delivery working closely with LISS DTP Manager, allocating staff resource and monitoring budgets to ensure consistent and effective service delivery including overseeing payments processing to students and training course providers. Deputising for the LISS DTP Manager and supporting with all administrative activity in the DTP as required.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 06/09/2026. King’s Doctoral College operates under a hybrid working policy and when on campus the post-holder will be based at Lavington Street (currently 1 day a week).
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
- Essential Criteria
- Educated to degree level
- Experience in successful planning and organising training, events and/or activities
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with a wide range of people and build networks, lead and contribute to meetings with a range of stakeholders
- Organisational/time management and prioritisation skills: ability to plan, prioritise and to delegate tasks appropriately and to work to tight deadlines
- Accurate work and attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills and proficiency with a range of software (including Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
- Ability to multitask, to work flexibly to different and competing priorities and demands - using own judgement and initiative when appropriate
- Strong solution-led approach to work
- Desirable criteria
- Experience of line managing staff, and monitoring their work and developing their skills
- Financial Administration and Budget Monitoring Skills
- Familiarity with Higher Education administration
- Experience in working with PGR students
- Familiarity with UKRI Studentship Regulations and Guidelines
