About Us We are seeking a Contracts Associate to be a vital part of the Contracts Team, which offers professional, effective, and efficient services for King’s researchers by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on contracts from private and public sector organizations for research and consultancy activities. The ideal candidate will have negotiation experience with various stakeholders and a familiarity with legal issues. Experience in costing and pricing project budgets is desirable but not essential. Candidates should possess excellent organizational, communication, and literacy skills, demonstrate decision-making capabilities, and work well under pressure both independently and in teams. About The Role The primary responsibility is to support Senior Contracts Associates by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating research-related agreements with external organizations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently to King’s academic community. The role involves negotiating various agreements including research collaborations, confidentiality, data, material transfer, and consultancy agreements. The Contracts Associate will aim to secure optimal terms, ensuring compliance with King’s regulations and external funders’ policies, and will collaborate with partners and service providers. The role requires drafting legal agreements, providing contractual expertise, and supporting negotiations to maximize benefits for King’s. Developing expertise in external funders’ terms and costing methods, and fostering relationships within the academic community, are also key aspects. The role includes record-keeping, reporting, and working closely across campuses to promote consistency and policy adherence. This is a full-time, indefinite contract role. About You Candidates should meet the following criteria: Degree or equivalent qualification Ability to manage a large and diverse portfolio of bids and contracts Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Strong organizational, negotiation, and influencing skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently High accuracy and attention to detail Good analytical and numeracy skills Proficiency in IT, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases Desirable skills include legal and contractual expertise, knowledge of full economic costing, research funding administration experience, familiarity with funders’ terms, and a proven negotiation track record involving intellectual property and liability issues.
