The Pharmacy Clinical Informatics and Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting the Pharmacy Department's data and digital strategy, ensuring high‐quality, reliable and meaningful use of data to drive clinical, operational and strategic decision‐making. Working closely with pharmacy teams, IT Clinical Systems, and Trust‐wide data functions, the post holder will lead on data analysis, reporting, data quality assurance and visualisation, while also contributing to the optimisation of the Electronic Health Record (Epic). The role combines advanced analytical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, acting as a bridge between clinical practice, digital systems and information management.

The post holder will lead data‐focused projects and workstreams, develop innovative reporting solutions, and provide expert insight into pharmacy performance, medicines use, and operational efficiency. Through collaboration, training and system optimisation, the role supports safer, more effective and data‐driven pharmacy services across the Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Lead pharmacy data analysis, reporting and insight to support clinical, operational and strategic decision‐making
  • Act as the main point of contact for pharmacy analytical and reporting requirements
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, validation and governance across pharmacy systems
  • Design, develop and maintain reports, dashboards and performance metrics (KPIs)
  • Use advanced analytical tools and languages (e.g. SQL, Python, Power BI, SSRS) to interrogate and present data
  • Monitor trends and performance, proactively highlighting risks, issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Lead and deliver pharmacy data‐related projects and workstreams
  • Support optimisation and effective use of the Electronic Health Record (Epic), including pharmacy workflows
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy staff, IT Clinical Systems and Trust data teams
  • Translate complex data and system information into clear, actionable insights for non‐technical audiences
  • Support benchmarking, statutory reporting and performance management requirements
  • Maintain and contribute to the pharmacy data warehouse and data sources
  • Provide training, advice and support to pharmacy and clinical colleagues on data and Epic use
  • Contribute to audits, service improvement projects and research activity
  • Support continuous improvement of pharmacy information systems and reporting processes
Advanced Analytics and Technical Delivery
  • Perform complex data extraction, processing and analysis using tools such as SQL, Python, SSRS and Power BI
  • Maintain and contribute to the pharmacy data warehouse, including loading and managing data from Epic and related systems
  • Join and integrate data from multiple systems to produce coherent and actionable outputs
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of analytical tools, methodologies and reporting standards
Electronic Health Record (Epic) Optimisation
  • Support optimisation of the Electronic Health Record (Epic), particularly pharmacy and medicines‐related workflows
  • Work with clinical and operational users to gather requirements and feedback for system improvements
  • Review data generated by Epic to influence changes in clinical practice, workflows and operational processes
  • Liaise closely with IT Clinical Systems teams to support system maintenance, enhancements and change implementation
  • Provide training and guidance to pharmacy, nursing and medical staff on effective use of Epic
Project and Service Development
  • Lead pharmacy data‐related projects and workstreams, taking responsibility for delivery, timelines and outputs
  • Contribute to service development initiatives through the use of analytics, benchmarking and performance data
  • Support audits, evaluations and improvement projects focused on medicines use, safety and service quality
  • Manage own workload effectively, balancing routine reporting with ad‐hoc and project‐based demands
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with pharmacy staff, clinicians, managers and corporate teams
  • Translate complex technical and analytical information into clear, accessible insights for non‐technical audiences
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior and director‐level staff
  • Challenge and support teams in the development, interpretation and use of performance indicators
Training, Support and Professional Contribution
  • Provide expert advice and support to pharmacy and non‐technical colleagues on data, reporting and information systems
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the development of analytical capability within the Pharmacy and Data teams
  • Participate actively in team meetings, planning and service development activities
  • Maintain confidentiality, comply with Trust policies, and contribute to a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement
