Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Dermatology, Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will join a friendly and active department with an excellent reputation for teaching and training. The Department of Dermatology is a dynamic, forward-thinking department, delivering a range of dermatological services including paediatric dermatology, skin cancer services, genital dermatoses and complex psoriasis. The service is outpatient focused, with facilities for day case and surgical procedures. The department offers a broad range of dermatological experience, including a wide assortment of inflammatory, sarcoidosis and haematodermatology conditions.
The post holder will join a team of 4 junior doctors within the dermatology department providing a comprehensive dermatology service with both in and out-patient experience under the supervision of the dermatology consultants. The department encourages direct emergency referrals from GPs and provides a walk-in service during clinic hours. An out-of-hours advice service for such cases is provided by the SpRs and clinical fellow, who are on-call (non-resident) on a 1 in 4 rota supported by the Consultants.
The Post Holder will be responsible for the:
- Participation in outpatient clinics as appropriate
- Maintenance of accurate, comprehensive, contemporaneous medical notes
- Participation in Multi-disciplinary Meetings as appropriate
- Management of dermatological admissions (routine & emergency) with the help of the ST2 doctor (SHO)
- Opportunity to be involved with research and audit projects within the department
- General duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital
- Observing the rules, policies, procedures and standards of Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff
- Being responsible, with management support, for your own personal development and contributing to the development of colleagues
- Responsibility for and contribution to infection control and familiarity with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role
Full registration with GMC/GDC with License to Practice. MRCP Part 1. Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and will be required to meet the essential criteria as described in the person specification. Potential candidates should have at least six months' dermatology experience in the NHS within the United Kingdom.
