We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Diabetes Dietitian (Band 6, 0.9 WTE) to join our Specialist Diabetes Dietetic Team at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist expertise within a supportive multidisciplinary service, with a primary focus on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and antenatal diabetes care.
The role offers a structured development pathway in adult Type 1 diabetes education, including carbohydrate counting, multiple daily injection (MDI) insulin therapy and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). As your competencies develop, you will be supported towards MDI DAFNE educator training and structured education delivery alongside experienced educators.
You will also develop leadership skills, taking increasing responsibility for GDM dietetic provision and progressing towards the role of Student Training Lead.
We welcome dietitians with experience supporting people living with diabetes who are keen to develop their specialist skills. Previous antenatal diabetes, carbohydrate counting or structured education experience is advantageous but not essential.
Clinical supervision, mentorship and opportunities for audit, quality improvement and service development are integral to the role.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide specialist dietetic care for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and pre-existing Type 2 diabetes during pregnancy, working closely with the multidisciplinary antenatal diabetes team.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver individual consultations, GDM group education and dietetic input to antenatal diabetes clinics.
Provide evidence-based, culturally appropriate and individualised nutritional care to support glycaemic management.
Manage a specialist caseload independently within demonstrated competencies, with clinical supervision.
Progressively develop skills in adult Type 1 diabetes education, including newly diagnosed education, carbohydrate counting, multiple daily injection (MDI) therapy and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
Work towards MDI DAFNE educator training and contribute to structured education delivery.
Develop leadership in GDM dietetic provision and progress towards Student Training Lead responsibilities.
Support student supervision, multidisciplinary teaching, audit, quality improvement and service development.
Applicants should have experience supporting people living with diabetes, strong communication and organisational skills, and an interest in antenatal care and specialist professional development.

Relying too much on AI can negatively impact your chances of success because automatically generated answers:
- might not be specific or relevant enough to address the criteria in the recruitment profile
- often seem generic and not personalised enough – an AI response won’t show your unique voice and perspective
- could misrepresent information about you, such as your qualifications, skills and experience
We monitor applications for any behaviour that could create an unfair advantage, and we check all references carefully. You are likely to be tested on your experience at interview, so be honest and make sure all the information in your application is correct.
