This fellowship is intended to allow an experienced neurophysiology trainee to obtain experience, both academically and clinically, in intra-operative monitoring (IOM). This post will provide experience sufficient to allow a successful fellow to offer himself/herself for appointment to a consultant position. The postholder will work closely with the lead Consultant for intra-operative monitoring service, ensuring a high-quality IOM service is provided to the neurosurgery team at King’s College Hospital.
Main duties of the job:
- Deliver intraoperative monitoring during complex neurosurgical procedures (including spine, skull base, neuro-oncology, paediatric and CSF cases).
- Work closely with the Lead Consultant to maintain and develop a high-quality IOM service.
- Support theatre teams to optimise patient safety and surgical outcomes.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in teaching, training, and multidisciplinary team working.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with clinical governance standards.
Person specification:
- Full registration with GMC/GDC with License to Practice.
- Other higher degree/qualifications.
- At least close to completion of CCT.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
