The posts are for 12-months duration, full time, commencing from November 2026 onwards.The post is at Denmark Hill ED which is a designated Major Trauma Centre (SE5 9RS)
Successful candidates will join a dynamic emergency workforce treating a wide spectrum of emergency medicine presentations. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience while working in a friendly and supportive environment.
There is a strong training culture incorporating lecture-room teaching and clinical supervision, opportunities to attend relevant clinics and courses, and full immersion simulation sessions. There may be opportunities for flexible working, provided all shifts are covered. The post holders will work up to 48 hours per week (including night shifts and weekend duties).
The rota is self-rostered.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will join a dynamic emergency workforce treating a wide spectrum of adult and paediatric emergency medicine presentations. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience while working in a friendly and supportive environment.
There is a strong training culture incorporating lecture-room teaching and clinical supervision, opportunities to attend relevant clinics and courses, and full immersion simulation sessions. There are also opportunities for flexible working.
The post holders will work up to 48 hours per week (including night shifts and weekend duties).
Salary is based on the Specialty Registrar payscale – MT04 and above.
Interview dates can be flexible. In addition, whilst face to face interviews are ideal, alternative methods are also acceptable (e.g. TEAMS, Zoom, etc.).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a 12-month post in the Emergency Department.
This is excellent opportunity to be signed off for competencies.
The department is a Level 1 Major Trauma Centre for both adults and children and fully accredited for Paediatric Emergency Medicine training.
Person specification
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCEM
- Full registration with GMC
- Relevant parts of post-graduate diplomas
- ATLS, ALS, APLS (or equivalent)
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years post-qualification training in acute or emergency specialties
- Undertaken a quality improvement project or example of change management
- Ability to supervise other residents in the Emergency Department
- Previous ED experience
Skills
- Teaching and training skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills
