This exciting Band 5 rotational occupational therapy role includes rotations in A&E/AMU, Post Acute Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, HASU and Stroke Rehabilitation and Neuro Rehabilitation. The post holder will ensure a high quality service for all patients requiring Occupational Therapy, managing a caseload of complex patients using evidence‑based practice and client‑centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. The post requires a flexible approach to working, including weekend commitments as required.
- Plan, organise and implement appropriate treatment programs.
- Complete and record risk assessment appropriately and act upon this.
- Implement treatment within local guidelines, Royal College of Occupational Therapy standards and clinical governance.
- Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with clients and carers, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
- Reflect on treatment provided and adapt treatment accordingly.
- Advise clients and carers on specific aids, equipment and adaptations and recommend provisions.
- Communicate complex information to patients who may have barriers to understanding.
- Respect the individuality, values, culture and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
- Make appropriate clinical observations and keep accurate records of assessments and interventions in accordance with local and national guidelines.
- Compile clear assessment reports and recommendations for future care for the multi‑disciplinary team and other external agencies.
- Actively contribute and coordinate multi‑disciplinary working, including client‑related meetings such as case conferences.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner and display appropriate problem‑solving, analytical and judgement skills.
- Comply with all relevant trust policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to equal opportunities, health and safety and confidentiality of information.
