Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a professional role model, demonstrating clinical excellence and leadership at all times.
  • Lead and coordinate the Neuro Theatre Scrub Team, maintaining effective management and organisation of the clinical area.
  • Take responsibility for patient safety, patient experience and overall quality of care within the Neuro Theatre Department.
  • Undertake patient assessment and clinical management, ensuring the team consistently delivers a high standard of care.
  • Ensure the wellbeing, dignity and comfort of patients at all times.
  • Support development, teaching, appraisal and wellbeing of all team members (registered and unregistered).
  • Manage designated budgets effectively and contribute to efficient use of departmental resources.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and protocols, ensuring evidence‑based practice.
  • Ensure compliance with key quality indicators and implement remedial plans where required.
  • Lead workforce planning: staff rostering, skill mix, sickness, leave and adherence to health‑safety regulations.
  • Champion and contribute to theatre efficiency, productivity work‑streams and audit initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality, data protection and equal‑opportunities policies.
  • Participate in strategic planning, service development and improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Minimum BSc degree (or entered) with relevant clinical and managerial experience.
  • Proven leadership skills in a supervisory/team‑lead context.
  • Experience managing a theatre or clinical team and improving outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex or sensitive issues positively.
  • Willingness to develop outstanding skills required for the role.
