We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Dietitian with specialist knowledge in complex obesity and bariatric surgery to work at The Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site, part of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Specialist Dietitian – Bariatric Surgery will act as the lead dietitian for the bariatric service at PRUH, providing highly specialised nutritional assessment, counselling, and treatment for patients undergoing bariatric surgery and those living with complex obesity. The post holder will work collaboratively with surgeons, endocrinologists, specialist nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver multidisciplinary care throughout the patient journey.
The role includes expert nutritional management for patients before and after bariatric surgery, supporting lifestyle changes, weight management goals, nutritional optimisation, and prevention and management of surgical complications. Occasional inpatient support for patients with complex obesity‑related conditions or post‑operative nutritional complications is also required.
Qualifications
- UK professional registration as a dietitian.
Knowledge and Experience
- Evidence of significant dietetic experience within obesity and bariatric surgery.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working within bariatrics.
- Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS (or comparable healthcare setting).
- Experience in the clinical supervision of student dietitians.
- Experience of clinical research.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Advanced motivational interviewing and counselling skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups, including effective presentation skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload within a complex and busy environment.
