To assist in the day-to-day duties of the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution unit with a specific focus on the receiving and subsequent distribution of all medicines.

Work will be carried out under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution Team.

This role will be cross site helping ensure receiving practice across the unit is the same.

  • 2. Touseinformationobtainedfrom Omnicellsystemtorespondtostockrequestsandassistwithstock optimisation.
  • 4. Toaccuratelycheckitemspreviouslypickedbyanothermemberofstaffandpackappropriatelyready for delivery to required areas
  • 5. To haveresponsibilityforthetop-up of drugstoadesignated ward/ departmentandtoprovidecover as necessary for any unavailable staff on their wards/department.
  • 6. Tosupportthecyclecountsforthe Omnicellcabinetstoensurethatstocklevelsandre-order quantities are accurately maintained.

  • 1. Toberesponsibleforreturningexcesswardstocktothe Pharmacy Stores, checkingtheappropriate shelf life and confirming quantities.
  • 2. Accept and sign the receipt for deliveries of Pharmaceutical products from suppliers, checking that the delivery is for the Pharmacy Department.
  • Checkthatitemsandquantitiesreceivedmatchdeliverynotesandpurchase orders
  • Checkthatitemsareingoodcondition, andtampersealsare intact
  • Checkitemshaveanadequateshelf life, referringtoseniorteamforgoodswithashelf lifeof 6 months or less
  • Check that prices match those on both the delivery notes and purchase orders, referring to senior team for any discrepancies
  • Signpurchaseordersanddeliverynotestoacceptgoodsreceivedasstated above.

  • 7. Put away stock into the Pharmacy Robotic system, onto shelves in the Stores Area or distribute to the Dispensary or Aseptic Department.

  • 9. Carryoutgeneraldutieswithinthestores/distributionareasas required.
  • General Duties
  • 2. Todealwithenquiresreceivedoverthetelephoneandwithin Pharmacy Storesenvironment, referring to Senior Stores Staff if necessary.
  • 3. To attend promptly to all internal and external customers and provide a high standard of customer service.
  • 6. Toassistwhereappropriatewiththetrainingofnew staff.
  • 7. To follow all procedures and policies in the department, including any other relevant duties, as may be required by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • 8. Tomaintainsatisfactorypersonalperformanceandprofessionalstandardsandachieve, where possible, agreed objectives described in the Annual Staff Appraisal system.

Person specification

Education and Qualification

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2 accredited knowledge in Pharmacy Services or willing to work towards obtaining.
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Ability to understand the importance of the medicines supply chain in a hospital environment.
  • Experience with Medicines.
  • Experience in Hospital Environment.

  • To be able to communicate routine Information in writing, electronically or Orally to internal and external staff members and members of the public.
  • To be able to organise own day-to-day rostered activities.
  • Basic Keyboard and Computer skills (specific in-house training will be given)
  • To be able to analyse Ward Stock Usage figures and adjust Stock levels accordingly.
