We wish to appoint a 24‑month, fixed‑term Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialising in Glaucoma, to cover a career break.
The post will be based cross‑site at King’s College Hospital’s main Denmark Hill site and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, but may support any of King’s sites as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Play an active role in the general workload of the department while giving significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff (medical and non‑medical).
- Work within multi‑disciplinary teams providing and further developing elective and emergency care for ophthalmology patients, focusing on the provision and development of the glaucoma service.
- Provide specialist Consultant leadership, expertise and support to King’s glaucoma service.
- Develop and provide outpatient and surgical services for glaucoma patients from complex to routine.
- Commit to the new community‑based glaucoma monitoring service, with involvement in development, training, supervision and virtual case review.
- Collaborate with local Clinical Commissioning Groups to devise appropriate patient care pathways and services in primary care.
- Perform high‑volume cataract surgery as required.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the glaucoma service across all King’s sites, participating in regular cross‑site subspecialty glaucoma group meetings.
