The SHO is a key member of the Dermatology team at King's. This is a post which has been in existence for over 25 years and, in its earliest iteration, was a part of the King's Medical SHO rotation. The job then became a constituent of the GIM/Acute Medicine junior doctor complement. It is now a stand‑alone post recruited by, and managed from, the Dermatology Department.

Applications are invited for an SHO post in the Department of Dermatology (6 months fixed term), King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will join a friendly and active department with an excellent reputation for teaching and training. The King's Department of Dermatology delivers a range of out‑patient dermatology services as well as managing acute skin disease for the hospital's in‑patients (liaison dermatology). In addition to general adult dermatology we also deliver specialist clinics in paediatric dermatology, skin cancer, cutaneous allergy, genital dermatoses (male & female), sarcoidosis, biological therapies, haemato‑dermatology, and dermatomyositis. We hold a monthly 'complex case' clinic.

The Department of Dermatology is housed in its own dedicated unit. All the activity of the department is accommodated within this unit, including clinic rooms, day treatment facilities, phototherapy and operating theatres. The departmental secretarial and administration offices are also located within the unit, as well as the offices for medical and nursing staff.

Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and will be required to meet the essential criteria as described in the person specification.

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites.

The trust‑wide strategy of Strong Roots, Global Reach is our Vision to be BOLD, Brilliant people, Outstanding care, Leaders in Research, Innovation and Education, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at the heart of everything we do. Everyone's contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust's carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
