Consultant Colorectal Surgeon-Interest in Pelvic Floor Disorders & IBD

This newly created consultant post offers an exceptional opportunity to join one of the UK's leading tertiary colorectal units and to play a central role in the continued development of specialist benign colorectal services. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality elective and emergency colorectal surgery while helping to shape the future direction of pelvic floor disorders and inflammatory bowel disease across the Trust.

The candidate will work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team alongside consultant colorectal surgeons, gastroenterologists, gastrointestinal physiologists, radiologists, specialist nurses, oncologists and allied health professionals. Opportunities exist to lead service development, quality improvement, innovation and research within King's Health Partners. The post is based primarily at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill, with cross-site outpatient, endoscopy and operating commitments at the Princess Royal University Hospital and other Trust sites as service development requires. The successful candidate will participate fully in both the Colorectal Consultant on‑call rota and the Emergency General Surgery and Major Trauma on‑call rota.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the GMC Specialist Register in General Surgery (or be within six months of obtaining CCT or CESR at the time of interview). Candidates should have comprehensive training in General and Colorectal Surgery, Level III colorectal training, laparoscopic expertise and independent JAG‑accredited lower gastrointestinal endoscopy practice. Applicants should have broad experience in the management of benign colorectal disease and advanced lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, including expert diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, urgent suspected colorectal cancer (Two‑Week Wait) referrals, advanced polypectomy and the management of complex colorectal polyps. Candidates with a strong interest and expertise in pelvic floor disorders, anophysiology and inflammatory bowel disease are particularly encouraged to apply and will be expected to contribute to the continued development of these multidisciplinary tertiary referral services.
