Clinical Research Fellow Plasma Cell Disorders

Responsibilities

• Routine management of PCD patients entered into clinical trials (including CART and bispecific monoclonal antibody immunotherapy trials) at King’s.
• Participation in PCD Outpatient clinics including MGUS clinic.
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings such as histology and radiology meetings.
• Liaison with district haematology colleagues.
• Participation in research.
• Limited medical cover of private PCD patients.
• Perform bone marrow biopsies.

Qualifications and Person Specification

• Eligible for registration GMC
• MRCP (or equivalent)
• Substantial experience in general medicine and haemato-oncology
• Previous experience in plasma cell disorders
• Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate
• Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach
• Ability to prioritise and organise clinical need
• Ability to organise oneself & own work
• Evidence of participation and active involvement in an audit project
• Experience and ability to work in multi professional teams (please attach TO2)
• Appropriate level of clinical knowledge
• Shows knowledge of evidence-informed practice
• Shows awareness of own limitations
• Understanding of clinical risk management
• The ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibility in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade, negotiate the ability to produce legible notes
• The ability to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
• Empathise with patients and work co-operatively with others
• Uses a non-judgemental approach to patients and colleagues
• Able to change and adapt, respond to rapidly changing circumstances
• Able to operate under pressure, cope with setbacks, self-aware
• Is well prepared, shows self discipline/commitment, is punctual and meets deadlines

• Evidence of teaching experience; involvement in organised teaching
• Meets professional health requirements
• GCP (within 2 years)
• Clinical Trials experience
• Previous experience of managing patients undergoing treatment with bispecific monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T cell therapy
• Understanding of NHS, clinical governance & resource constraints; mgmt/financial awareness exp of committee work
• Information technology skills
• Academic prizes and honours
• Demonstrates breadth of experience and awareness in and outside specialty/medicine
• Demonstrate use of evidence-informed practice
• Enthusiasm for teaching; exposure to different grps/teaching methods
• Proficient in BM biopsies
