As an Advanced Pharmacy Technician in Homecare, the post holder supports the delivery, governance and continual improvement of the Trust's homecare medicines service. Working under the Chief Homecare Technician, they ensure medicines are supplied safely and efficiently to patients via approved homecare providers, and may provide operational support to inpatient pharmacy services. They deputise for the Chief Homecare Technician when required.
The role involves maintaining robust administrative processes, monitoring provider performance, resolving service issues, and ensuring adherence to national Homecare Standards and Trust policies. They will lead audits, gather KPI data, contribute to service development, and help implement new homecare pathways. The post holder will also contribute to recruitment, training, inductions, appraisals and day-to-day supervision.
Responsibilities- Manage administrative processes related to the homecare medicines service.
- Monitor provider performance and ensure safe, timely and compliant provision of medicines via homecare providers.
- Support financial reconciliation and resolve service issues in collaboration with clinical teams, finance, providers and patients.
- Lead audits, collect KPI data, and participate in service review meetings to drive continuous improvement and the implementation of new and existing homecare pathways.
- Maintain governance and professional standards; develop and support SOPs; provide operational support to inpatient pharmacy services when required.
- Line manage homecare technical and administrative staff, support recruitment, training, inductions, appraisals and performance management.
- Act as a point of contact for clinical teams, finance, providers and patients, ensuring excellent communication and problem solving.
- Host and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions to optimise patient experience, service quality and operational efficiency.
- Technical administrative skills, strong problem-solving initiative, and IT proficiency to maintain high standards of governance and deliver a quality service for patients and hospital staff.
- Ability to work in an operational setting with a focus on patient safety and service delivery.
- Accredited Accuracy Checker status (as applicable) and readiness to deputise for the Chief Homecare Technician when required.
