We are looking for an experienced and dynamic pharmacist to lead the pharmacy service to Sexual Health and HIV, within the Planned Medicine Care Group.

This 8B principal pharmacist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pharmacy service delivered at the Caldecot Centre, which provides medical, social and welfare support for people living with HIV. They act as the Pharmacy lead for sexual health, providing advice and acting as a key contact for the Havens and other Trust Sexual Health services. The post holder manages the Caldecot Pharmacy team, and ensures that the services provided are effective, inclusive and comprehensive, delivering excellent care to our local population.

The successful candidate must be an expert in medicines use in sexual health and HIV with a proven track record in successful team work and influencing skills. They will also demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

This is an exciting time to join King\’s as the Caldecot Pharmacy team develops new pharmacy-led services and the Pharmacy team more broadly optimises workflows after recent implementation of our joint electronic health record, Epic. We are working together to deliver a recently launched clinical pharmacy strategy which will include delivering a development programme for principal pharamcists. This role provides opportunities to deepen your involvement with research and clinical trials, and advance your managerial and leadership responsibilities.

The focus of the post is on ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services, in accordance with the priorities set by the post holder, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Services, General Manager and Clinical Director(s). The post holder is responsible for

  • Acting as a specialist role model and as an expert in sexual health & HIV and demonstrating an advanced level of knowledge in the field
  • Ensuring the safe, efficacious and cost-effective use of drugs within the Care Group
  • Ensuring a high level of clinical input across the Care Group
  • Ensuring the daily operations of the Caldecot Pharmacy meet the needs of service users
  • Ensuring clinical trials delivered at the Caldecot Pharmacy are managed effectively and in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Acting as the pharmacy lead for the Havens and Sexual Health services
  • Developing and implementing guidelines and policies for the use of medicines
  • Regular financial reporting, drug usage and expenditure forecasting
  • Developing the pharmacy service to the Care Group
  • Teaching and training within the Trust and externally
  • Initiating and coordinating research and development activity within the specialist area
  • Identifying a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Care Group
  • Identifying and promoting best practice
