Job overview
Surgical Ward 6 is part of the Surgical, Theatres, Anaesthetic and Endoscopy Care Group and is a 20 bed surgical ward. This is a multi-speciality ward taking urology, colorectal, orthopaedic, ENT, general surgical patients along with the occasional medical patient.
We have a permanent position and a 10 month secondment opportunity for two Band 6\’s nurse to join our friendly team.
We are keen to hear from experienced band 5 or 6 with relevant surgical experience who may like to take on the challenge of working alongside excellent nurses in the field of surgical acute patients. The post holder will work as an integral member of the team. They will form part of the team to lead on the delivery of high quality evidence based care for both patients and their families and carers. The post holder will be required to work closely with the Ward Manager and our closely integrated multi-disciplinary team, and will also be an excellent clinical role model and mentor facilitating the development of junior staff and student nurses.
Main duties of the job
You must be a clinical expert through formal education and have clinical expertise pertinent to surgery including post-operative care. You will have been working at a senior band 5 level or higher for significant number of years. Post registration education in teaching skills is essential and relevant post registration surgical courses. If you possess the necessary experience and qualities to lead and manage this innovative environment we would love to hear from you.
You must have excellent customer care, communication and interpersonal skills and be flexible and able to adapt to and support change in this growing and developing environment. You will participate in the national and local audit used to identify ways we can maintain and improve the care we offer our patients.
