Overview

Reporting to the Camp Manager and working alongside a team of staff, Swim Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering safe, structured, active sessions to children aged 5 to 17 during school holidays. Sessions focus on developing water confidence and basic stroke development through structured, active games and fun activities rather than a traditional learn-to-swim programme. Safety is the number one priority, and Swim Teachers work closely with Lifeguards to prepare areas and equipment, manage risk assessments, monitor water conditions, and manage incidents. Staff will follow Kings Camps\’ Swimming Policy, the venue Normal Operating Procedure and Emergency Action Plan. Sessions typically last 30–45 minutes with groups up to 16 children; pool availability and session times vary (generally 9:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday). The welfare of children is paramount, including supervision during breaks, participation in sessions, safe use of equipment, incident recording, behaviour management, and upholding health and safety standards and procedures.

  • 12+ months’ experience as a swim teacher
  • 6+ months experience working with 5–17-year-olds
