Responsible to: Head of Department (Design Technology and Creative Arts).

Responsible for: Technical support within the Design Technology and Creative Arts departments.

Salary: KGA Band 4, points 4 to 6 ie £25,201pa - £26,473pa pro rata plus Outer London Fringe of £729pa, pro rata. Actual Gross Salary £22,660pa to £23,122pa inc. OLF.

Hours: 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday with a 36 minute unpaid lunch break. Term time only plus 2 days.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative Design Technology/ Art/ Food technician to join our ambitious and growing Creative Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to play an intrinsic role in supporting our teaching staff and ensuring our students have the tools they need to succeed in our all-through academy.

The department is a well-resourced and purpose-built facility, consisting of a suite of workshops, graphic design facilities, textiles, food technology rooms, and a ceramics kiln room.

Our technology provision is characterised by:

  • Curriculum Support: Supporting the Creative Arts team to deliver an engaging and varied practical curriculum.
  • Technical Expertise: Overseeing and monitoring stock levels and the expert preparation of equipment and tools for practical work.
  • Practical Delivery: Supporting teaching staff in the delivery of student practical work and demonstrations.
  • Collaborative Culture: Working closely with the Head of Creative Arts and the wider team to support the Creative Arts team and broader academy life.

We are looking for a candidate who is confident in supporting staff and students alike. The successful candidate will:

  • Have a background in Product Design; Resistant Materials and/or Engineering; or food technology.
  • Experience of working within a Secondary School department is desirable.
  • Be a team player who is happy to get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life.
  • Have the ability to motivate, inspire, and support students to excel.
