Build Something New. King Living is opening its first UK Outlet, and we're looking for the founding leader to bring it to life. Located within our dedicated, owner-operated warehouse in Hemel Hempstead, the Outlet plays an important role within our UK retail network, giving beautifully crafted furniture—a second opportunity to find the right home. Supported by the engineering that defines King Living, the Outlet extends the life of exceptional furniture while making premium design accessible to more customers. This is a unique opportunity to help establish a completely new retail format for King Living UK.
As the Outlet Showroom Manager, you'll shape the customer experience, operating model and culture from day one. You'll lead a close-knit team while working alongside Warehouse, Customer Service and Support teams to create an Outlet that is commercially successful, operationally excellent and unmistakably King Living. This is far more than a traditional showroom management role. Success requires a unique combination of retail leadership, commercial thinking, operational discipline and systems confidence. You'll be equally comfortable coaching your team, reviewing inventory, improving operational processes or helping a customer find the perfect sofa. If you enjoy building businesses, solving problems and creating high-performing teams, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Own
- Sales Performance & Customer Experience: Lead a team that delivers exceptional customer experiences while maximising every sales opportunity. Coach your team to execute the King Living Road to Sale with confidence, balancing outstanding service with clear customer expectations around Outlet products, grading, collections, delivery and warranty. You’ll build long-term customer relationships while ensuring every visitor leaves with confidence in the quality and craftsmanship of King Living furniture.
- Inventory Performance & Outlet Operations: Own the commercial performance of the Outlet floor. Working closely with Warehouse and Reverse Logistics teams, you’ll oversee inventory flow, showroom replenishment, customer collections and daily operations to ensure stock moves efficiently from warehouse to customer. You’ll continually optimise product presentation, maximise sell-through and ensure the showroom remains commercially compelling despite constantly changing inventory.
- Build the Team: Recruit, coach and develop a high-performing founding team. Create a culture built on ownership, collaboration, adaptability and continuous improvement, where everyone contributes to both customer experience and operational success. You’ll establish the standards, behaviours and daily operating rhythm that future King Living Outlets will be built upon.
- Build the Business: This is a role for someone who enjoys improving the way things work. You’ll identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen collaboration between Retail and Warehouse, improve inventory flow and continuously evolve the Outlet operating model. No two days will be the same—and that’s exactly what makes this role rewarding.
- Brand Standards: Maintain the premium presentation and customer experience King Living is known for while recognising the dynamic nature of an Outlet environment. You’ll ensure the showroom remains welcoming, commercially presented and ready to trade every day.
Who You Are
You’re probably not looking for another traditional showroom management role. You’re someone who enjoys building something from the ground up. You thrive in environments where every day is different, where you can solve problems, improve systems and genuinely influence how a business operates. You’re commercially minded and customer-focused, but equally comfortable reviewing inventory, working alongside Warehouse, coaching your team or finding a better way of doing something. You naturally take ownership. You don’t wait for problems to be solved—you solve them.
You’ll likely bring:
- Experience leading a high-performing retail team within furniture, interiors, lifestyle or another premium customer-focused environment.
- Strong commercial judgement with a proven ability to drive sales performance and customer satisfaction.
- Confidence balancing customer experience with operational excellence.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong systems capability and confidence learning inventory and warehouse management processes.
- A collaborative leadership style that builds strong relationships across Retail, Warehouse and Customer Service.
- Excellent coaching, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example.
Weekend work is required to suit the needs of the business. Experience within outlet retail, warehouse operations or inventory-led environments is advantageous, but not essential. What matters most is your mindset, leadership capability and desire to build something exceptional.
