About Us
The Kingfisher Café serves the independently owned Kingfishers Bridge Nature Reserve in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens. We take pride in offering homemade cakes, quality coffee, and hot food to visitors who come to enjoy one of the region’s most beautiful natural spaces. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented sous chef to support our team.
The Role
- We are looking for an energetic and reliable sous chef to join our team.
- You will be supporting the chef in the running of the kitchen, including cover for days off and holidays so must be willing to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards.
- Maintain a spotless workspace.
- Ensure every plate that goes out to our customers is of the highest standard and delivered in a timely manner.
- Assist in menu development, food ordering and stock control.
- Stand in for the head chef when they are away.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a cafe, restaurant or commercial kitchen.
- A genuine passion for cooking and a creative eye for beautiful food.
- A positive, team-first attitude and a willingness to roll your sleeves up.
- A valid Level 2 food hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
- Early morning shifts and weekend availability.
- Reliable, hardworking, and calm under pressure with good attention to detail.
