We are seeking a part time (0.4) Assistant Director of ITT. This person will have considerable experience in the development of teachers, either in a school or university setting. Working alongside the Director of ITT, this person will participate in our recruitment and selection processes, the design and delivery of our centre-based learning programme and the training and support of our trainees and their school-based mentors.

This role entails regular contact with a diverse range of individuals and groups, including external agencies and senior colleagues in schools. The King Edward’s Consortium (the KEC) is a school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) provider, founded in 2004 and working closely with a well-established group of 23 excellent schools in the Birmingham area. The strength of our partnership lies in its diversity, longevity and experience – a mixture of comprehensive, selective, independent, mixed, single-sex, 11-16 and 11-18 schools.

Our trainees are exceptionally well-qualified and employment rates are very high. They are highly professional and knowledgeable, generous and passionate – passionate both about their subjects and about the power of education to change lives.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of Initial Teacher Training on a fixed five-term contract in the first instance. This will enable the KEC to continue its growth and outstanding outcomes for our trainees, whilst also considering its potential paths for succession planning and long-term strategic development.

The KEC is based at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, Lead School for King Edward’s Consortium.
