Our client, a well-established food production business in Canterbury, is seeking an experienced and motivated Line Leader to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all line start-up checks before production begins.
- Communicate production priorities to ODS, Chiller and Machine Operators, keeping them informed of any changes.
- Prepare and set up production lines efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
- Collect packaging and labels from the packaging store and ensure all labels and packaging are approved by Quality Control (QC) before use.
- Verify that fruit in the wet area matches the correct variety, grower, and job number.
- Train and support packers, monitor hygiene standards, and provide clear instructions regarding production requirements.
- Complete all production paperwork accurately and within required timescales.
- Regularly monitor the minus sheet and implement any updates.
- Ensure additional fruit and packaging are ordered promptly when required and approved by QC before use.
- Confirm that QC checks all additional polybags and flow-wrap samples before they enter production.
- Ensure all packaging is removed from the line at the end of each job, returned to the packaging department, and that the line is thoroughly cleaned.
- Update job status on the minus sheet in accordance with SOP requirements, ensuring all relevant information is recorded.
- Report to the Packhouse Manager once all production orders have been completed.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a Line Leader, Team Leader, or Supervisory role within food production, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
