Location: Bennet Road, Reading, RG2 0QX

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shifts: Monday-Sunday, 08:30-16:30 (rota basis)

Requirement: Own vehicle and Basic DBS required

About The Role

We are looking for a confident and professional Enforcement Officer to join our team supporting Reading Borough Council. This is a hybrid enforcement role focusing on both fly-tipping investigations and litter enforcement across Reading. You will play a key role in protecting the local environment, investigating environmental offences, engaging with members of the public, and taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary. This position would suit someone who is self-motivated, enjoys working outdoors, and is passionate about maintaining clean and safe communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas throughout Reading Borough
  • Monitor and address environmental offences, including littering and fly-tipping
  • Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) where appropriate
  • Investigate fly-tipping incidents and gather evidence
  • Record witness statements, photographic evidence, and enforcement activity accurately
  • Complete reports and maintain detailed enforcement records
  • Engage professionally with residents, businesses, and visitors
  • Provide advice and guidance on environmental regulations and responsibilities
  • Represent both the company and Reading Borough Council in a professional manner at all times
  • Support local environmental improvement initiatives and community standards

  • Competent in both litter enforcement and fly-tipping investigations
  • Must have access to their own vehicle and be willing to travel throughout the borough
  • Basic DBS check required
