Company: Kingdom Local Authority Support (Kingdom). Location: Merton, SM4 area. Hours: On average 37.5 hours per week, varied shifts between 6:00am-10:00pm. Weekend working is compulsory and will be working at different sites depending on business needs. Pay Rate: £13.95 per hour.

Role Overview: The Environmental Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public health, safety, and environmental standards by enforcing environmental laws and regulations. This position involves investigating environmental violations, issuing warnings, fines, or citations, and educating the public about environmental responsibilities. The officer works closely with local authorities, businesses, and residents to promote compliance and help reduce environmental crimes such as littering, fly-tipping, and pollution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce environmental regulations and local by-laws relating to littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, waste management, noise pollution, and other environmental concerns.
- Patrol assigned areas to detect violations and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
- Investigate reports of environmental offences from the public and respond promptly to complaints.
- Issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and citations to individuals or businesses for non-compliance with environmental laws.
- Prepare and serve legal documents, including warning notices and fines, in accordance with local laws.
- Conduct follow-up visits to ensure compliance with issued notices and take further action if necessary.
- Investigate environmental offenses such as illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, and unlawful waste disposal by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing case files.
- Use surveillance equipment, including cameras, to monitor and collect evidence of environmental crimes.
- Report findings to senior management and collaborate with legal teams to pursue prosecutions when necessary.
- Prepare case files for prosecution, including collecting evidence, photographs, and witness statements.
- Attend court proceedings and present evidence as required to support legal action against environmental offenders.
