My client is seeking a Maintenance Person/Caretaker to join their Facilities team in the Fareham Area accessible from the main routes from Portsmouth and Southampton. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this role is essential to ensuring the upkeep, safety, and efficient running of the company’s buildings and grounds.
Role Overview
This is a hands‑on position supporting day‑to‑day maintenance, refurbishments, and general site management, while maintaining strong health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established maintenance processes and procedures across site facilities
- Support refurbishment projects including: building works, demolition, fabrication, decoration, groundworks, plumbing and electrical support
- Carry out external upkeep tasks such as: drain clearing, gutter cleaning, power washing
- Maintain green areas including: strimming, clipping, weeding, and general grounds upkeep
- Conduct general repairs including: painting & decorating, plumbing, carpentry, furniture assembly, and furniture repairs
- Complete reactive maintenance to a high standard within required timeframes
- Assist with site relocations and ad‑hoc facilities requirements
- Accurately log time, tasks, and associated costs, ensuring work stays within budget
- Support health & safety and environmental reviews alongside the Facilities Manager
- Oversee and liaise with third‑party contractors when on site
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment at all times
- Flexibility to support occasional out‑of‑hours work with prior notice
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified or experienced in building maintenance and renovation tasks
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of health & safety and cleaning standards
- Physically capable of undertaking manual and labour‑intensive tasks
- Able to work independently or collaboratively within a team
- Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and hardworking
- Positive, proactive, and approachable attitude
- Full driving licence preferred
Working Hours & Pay
Monday to Friday | 08:00 – 16:00 (37.5 hours per week) £16.02 per hour Temp‑to‑Perm agreement
