About The Role
We are looking for a confident and professional Environmental Enforcement Litter Officer to join our team supporting Crawley Borough Council. In this public-facing role, you will patrol designated areas across the borough, helping to keep Crawley clean and environmentally responsible. You will engage with members of the public and, where appropriate, issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for environmental offences.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrolling areas across Crawley Borough
- Monitoring and addressing environmental offences, including littering
- Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) under Section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
- Gathering and recording evidence accurately
- Completing reports and maintaining enforcement records
- Providing information and guidance to members of the public
- Representing both the company and Crawley Borough Council professionally at all times
- Supporting initiatives to improve the local environment and community standards
What We're Looking For
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
- Good observation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Good written and verbal English skills
- Basic IT skills for recording incidents and enforcement activity
- Experience in enforcement, security, customer service, or a public-facing role is desirable
- A Basic DBS check is required for this role
