We are urgently seeking Temporary Support Workers to cover shifts at a high-support residential service for adults experiencing homelessness and complex needs. This service offers short-term accommodation within a structured, supportive environment, providing therapeutic support, medical intervention, and life skills development. Residents may face multiple challenges, including homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health conditions. You will play a vital role in helping individuals stabilise their circumstances, enhance their wellbeing, and progress towards greater independence.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional support to residents daily
- Establish positive, professional relationships to encourage engagement
- Support individuals with complex needs, including alcohol and substance misuse
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
- Assist with support planning, risk management, and accurate record-keeping
- Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and crisis situations
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external professionals
Your Role as a Support Worker
As a Temporary Support Worker, your duties will include:
- Delivering person-centred, therapeutic support aligned with our service values
- Building trusting relationships that promote stability and independence
- Supporting residents to develop life skills and daily routines
- Encouraging participation in support services and activities
- Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
- Ensuring safeguarding and safety procedures are rigorously followed
Who We Are Looking For
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, preferably within homelessness services
- Experience supporting individuals with alcohol and substance misuse
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, resilient, and non-judgemental
- Understanding of safeguarding and risk management principles
- Capability to manage challenging behaviours professionally
- Driving licence preferred due to limited public transport access
Important Information
- Completion of an induction is required before commencing shifts
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
