Freelance Senior Site Manager for a £40m+ new build education project in Hounslow, West London. This is a long-term opportunity for a strong Senior Site Manager capable of leading all external works packages on a major DfE scheme.
The primary focus of the role is senior site management and quality assurance across external works. Setting out capability is not essential; however, candidates who can also carry out setting out duties using a robotic total station will be considered for the upper end of the day rate.
Key Requirements- Proven experience operating at Senior Site Manager level on projects £40m+
- Strong track record delivering external works packages: groundworks, RC frame, steel frame, and lifting operations
- Engineering background or qualification advantageous
- Ability to manage subcontractors, chair meetings, and drive programme on site
- Quality assurance experience across external works packages
- Experience with S278 works desirable
- SMSTS, First Aid, and CSCS (Gold / Black / White) essential
- Must be within commutable distance of Hounslow, West London
- Must be willing to provide verifiable work references
Setting out capability: Candidates who are also proficient in setting out using a robotic total station will be considered for the upper end of the day rate (£400/day). This is not a requirement for all applicants.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate all external works packages on site
- Manage subcontractors, site logistics, and programme delivery
- Chair subcontractor meetings and drive performance
- Monitor and enforce quality control across all works
- Read and interpret drawings and complete as-built surveys
- Liaise with design teams to resolve technical issues
- Oversee site safety, RAMS, permits, and inductions
- Setting out duties (desirable but not essential; attracts upper day rate)
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Long-term (circa 3-year programme)
- Location: Hounslow, West London (TW13 area)
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm
- Rate: £330 - £400 per day depending on experience (CIS / LTD considered)
