Are you an experienced Material Scheduler, Materials Planner or Supply Chain Planner who can hit the ground running within a busy manufacturing environment? Do you have experience managing material availability, purchase orders and inventory while working closely with Production Planning, suppliers, Logistics and Quality?
We're supporting a global manufacturing organisation in Petersfield who are looking for a Material Scheduler to join their team on an initial 4-month fixed-term contract .This is a great opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional to take ownership of short-term material availability and help ensure production continues to run smoothly.
What's the role all about?
As the Material Scheduler , your main focus will be making sure the right materials and components are available at the right time to support the production plan.
You'll manage material requirements across a 0–8 week planning horizon , tracking purchase orders, identifying shortages and working closely with Material Planners, Production Schedulers, suppliers, Logistics, Quality and Warehousing to resolve issues before they impact production.
It's a fast-moving role where you'll need to be comfortable working with data, managing changing priorities and proactively chasing information to keep materials moving.
What will you be doing?
Coordinate material and component deliveries to support the production scheduleMonitor material availability across the 0–8 week planning horizonIdentify potential material shortages and raise alerts before they impact productionTrack purchase orders and provide accurate status updatesFollow up on overdue purchase orders and supplier delivery issuesWork with Material Planners to manage supply and demand exceptionsSupport expediting, de-expediting, cancellations and volume changes where requiredWork closely with Production Schedulers to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing plansInvestigate material delays and communicate potential risks to Planning and ProductionSupport the resolution of unexpected issues including quality rejections and logistics delaysProduce Production at Risk reporting and identify the root cause of material shortagesWork with Quality and Logistics to prioritise materials required urgently for productionMaintain accurate planning dates and delivery informationSupport Advanced Shipping Notification (ASN) requirementsMonitor inventory and recommend opportunities to improve stock levelsSupport the management of safety stock and material planning parametersMonitor warehouse capacity against scheduled material deliveriesBuild strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholdersWhat do you need?
We're looking for someone with: Previous experience within Material Planning, Material Scheduling, Supply Chain or Manufacturing PlanningIdeally 2–4 years' experience within a supply chain environmentExperience working within a manufacturing businessGood understanding of material requirements, inventory and production planningExperience tracking and managing purchase ordersConfidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and relationship-building skillsExperience using planning and supply chain systems such as SAP, E2Open, Kinaxis or similar would be particularly beneficial.
DesirableIt would also be beneficial if you have experience within: FMCG, cosmetics or personal care manufacturingRaw material or packaging planningSupplier managementInventory management and safety stock calculationsSAP or similar ERP/MRP systemsHigh-volume manufacturing environmentsA degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Operations or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
