We are supporting a major organisation delivering large-scale infrastructure, construction and facilities projects within a highly secure maritime and defence environment in Portsmouth. You will join an established integrated delivery team working on high-value, high-profile programmes where standards, safety and collaboration really matter.
As the Project Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects or work packages within a wider programme. Reporting into the Programme Manager, you will own day-to-day delivery, coordinating design, procurement, contractors and site activities. You will act as the main point of contact for your projects, ensuring delivery meets contractual, commercial, safety and quality requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering construction and infrastructure projects from scope to completion
- Developing and managing project programmes and work plans
- Controlling cost, forecasting spend and reporting against budget
- Acting as point of contact with clients, end users and internal teams
- Coordinating design deliverables and procurement packages
- Leading cost planning, tender evaluation and value-for-money assessments
- Managing NEC4 contractual arrangements and contractor performance
- Ensuring all pre-construction information is in place
- Maintaining strong site presence to ensure safe delivery in line with Zero Harm principles
- Managing handover, commissioning and project close-out documentation
- Reporting progress, risks and recovery plans to senior stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior project staff when required
This is a highly visible delivery role with real responsibility and influence.
To succeed as a Project Delivery Manager, you will bring:
- Proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience managing projects £1m+ and 12-month+ durations
- Strong commercial and contractual understanding (NEC4 preferred)
- Experience working in regulated environments (defence, MOD, infrastructure, FM or similar)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
- Strong reporting, organisation and problem-solving skills
Qualifications (ideal, not all essential):
- HNC / HND or Degree in Construction, Engineering, Building or Project Management
- Professional qualification in Project Management or Construction
- IOSH or NEBOSH for Managers
- SMSTS
- Security clearance or ability to obtain
