We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Test & Commissioning Engineer to join a highly specialised engineering business working within the marine and defence sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, cutting-edge equipment and systems used in demanding environments, supporting projects that genuinely make an impact. The role would suit someone with strong electro-mechanical testing experience who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and hands-on engineering work.
You’ll be joining a skilled engineering team involved in the setup, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of sophisticated equipment and systems both on-site and within the production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up, configure, test and commission electro-mechanical equipment
- Carry out electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic testing activities
- Perform flash testing, IR testing, earth bonding and point-to-point checks
- Use test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes and Datron equipment
- Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults
- Support installation, commissioning and maintenance activities on-site when required
- Work closely with engineering teams to support new and existing product development
- Ensure all test procedures, documentation and results are completed accurately
- Provide feedback on design and maintenance improvements
- Support customer/system demonstrations where required
- Previous experience within a test, commissioning or electro-mechanical engineering environment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with electrical and mechanical systems - qualifications are not required, just know-how!
- Comfortable using a range of test equipment
- Background within marine, defence, aerospace, manufacturing or other highly regulated engineering sectors would be advantageous
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and test procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Due to the nature of the work, successful candidates will need to have BPSS and SC clearance. This is an ongoing contract opportunity, initially six months but with chances of going on much longer, offering excellent exposure to highly technical engineering projects within a respected and growing sector.
