We are urgently recruiting Support Workers to cover shifts at a children’s residential home in Surrey. This home provides a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect, enabling them to develop, learn, and thrive.

Location: Surrey (with opportunities across Surrey & West Sussex)

About the Role

We offer Support Worker shifts in a therapeutic residential setting, supporting vulnerable children and young people. Shifts include earlies, lates, long days, sleep-ins, and waking nights – you choose the pattern that suits you best. You may work consistently within one home for continuity or across multiple residential projects in Surrey and West Sussex for variety. Our Support Workers appreciate the flexibility to work according to their lifestyle and commitments, whether as supplementary income or their primary role.

About the Children

The young people in our care have experienced trauma that may affect their wellbeing and development, which can present as:

  • Mental health challenges
  • Conduct or behavioural difficulties
  • Risk-taking behaviours
  • Learning difficulties or developmental disorders

These children require additional patience, compassion, and understanding. Our Support Workers are trained to manage complex emotional needs safely and effectively.

Your Role as a Support Worker

As a Temporary Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing therapeutic, relationship-based care consistent with the home’s ethos
  • Building trusting and genuine relationships that promote emotional, social, and educational development
  • Delivering care in line with individual support plans, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and progress
  • Engaging young people in activities that encourage learning, enjoyment, and emotional wellbeing
  • Maintaining professional boundaries while responding to challenging or unpredictable behaviours
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals

  • Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals in care or related settings
  • Emotional resilience, empathy, and patience
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding principles
  • Ability to maintain safe boundaries while delivering compassionate care
  • Strong communication skills and a consistent approach
