Are you an experienced Workshop Engineer looking to work hands-on with material handling and forklift equipment? Do you have experience maintaining mechanical, material handling or plant machinery? If so, this Workshop Engineer role could be an excellent opportunity.

This position is based at a depot in Newton Aycliffe, working for a well-established global manufacturer of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment. The role is Monday to Friday, with the option of a 40-hour or 45-hour working week. Shift premiums and overtime are available, and the salary is up to £47,000 depending on experience.

As a Workshop Engineer, you will maintain, repair and service a wide range of material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet trucks, counterbalance trucks and very narrow aisle (VNA) trucks. You will carry out routine maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe, reliable and operating at peak performance. Working from the depot, you will be part of a skilled engineering team, delivering high standards of service and supporting customers' operations.

You will need:

  • Experience as a vehicle technician, mechanical engineer, plant fitter or similar
  • Experience working with forklifts or other material handling equipment
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and mechanical skills
  • Good IT skills for logging jobs and ordering parts
  • A full UK driving licence
