Location: Head Office (Pre-Construction Phase), then Project-Based Across the UK

The Client

With a strong pipeline of secured work and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of projects and contribute to the successful delivery of major construction schemes. You will play a key role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account, while working collaboratively with operational, design, and pre-construction teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Preparation, management, and reporting of project budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Administration of main contracts and subcontract agreements.
  • Procurement of subcontract packages, including tendering, analysis, negotiation, and appointment.
  • Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Preparation and agreement of interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Monitoring project cash flow and financial performance.
  • Supporting the preparation of Employers Requirements and Contractors Proposals.
  • Ensuring contractual compliance and timely issue of notices and correspondence.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, funders, and supply chain partners.
  • Working closely with operational teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Supporting and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors where appropriate.

The Candidate

We are looking for a proactive and commercially driven professional who can demonstrate:

Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within a main contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
  • Experience managing commercial functions on construction projects.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
  • Experience across residential, hotel, commercial, industrial, or refurbishment sectors.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
