Junior Systems Build Engineer (LINUX) required by my rapidly growing defence and security industry client. You will collaborate within engineering and business systems assisting on all fronts with projects and BAU activities of various scopes and complexities.
To assist in the activities associated with the build, deployment and delivery of company software products. To administer, secure and hold responsibility for the ecosystem of tools and infrastructure needed to provide company development and build activities. To seamlessly integrate into the company culture of united excellence, openness, and respect.
Must Have
- At least 2 years as a Linux Systems Administrator
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Strengthening and broadening skills through application and exploration of existing knowledge and the expansion into adjacent skills.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of configuration control tools.
- Be proactive and responsive to the infrastructure support needs of the engineering department.
- Assist in the management of the traditional software build mechanism and engineering development infrastructure, including control of disk areas and build machines.
- Ensure all provided IT is clean and fully serviceable prior to issue.
- Respond to requests in standard and non-standard situations, investigating all the facts and offering diagnostic input to provide a resolution.
- Conduct, advise and support business continuity and disaster recovery activities across the business.
- Contribution to the generation of documentation and training materials, conforming to relevant company standards and procedures.
- Undertake research activities to assist in advancing department ways of working.
- Develop communication skills and styles, both written and verbal, and exercise these skills within the business.
- Actively contributing to the design process.
- Extend business awareness to understand cost control.
- Gain an understanding of the issues and challenges facing the business.
