Do you want a role where you can influence everything from NPI and tooling through to lean improvements, cost reduction and production efficiency all while working a 4.5 day week?
We are supporting a specialist manufacturing business in New Milton who are looking to recruit a Production Engineer to join their team. This is a varied and highly impactful role where you'll provide technical and operational support across production, working closely with Operations, Quality and Technical teams. You'll be responsible for improving processes, implementing new technology, supporting NPI activities and driving efficiency across manufacturing. This is not just a desk-based role; you'll be heavily involved on the shop floor, making real improvements that drive performance.
Key responsibilities
- Support all production engineering activities across the site
- Create and maintain manufacturing routings, structures and production documentation
- Design, implement and validate tooling using CAD
- Lead and implement process improvements and lean initiatives
- Support NPI / NPD activities to ensure smooth transition into production
- Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Programme and support special purpose machinery
- Identify and implement new technology, equipment and tooling
- Use data analysis to drive efficiency improvements and cost reduction
- Apply lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving methodologies
- Manufacture and modify tooling where required
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality and Technical teams
What you'll need
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- Experience as a Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer
- Background within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong experience in process improvement and continuous improvement
- Experience with tool design using CAD
- Ability to interpret and work from technical engineering drawings
- Experience using ERP systems and production data
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing methodologies
- Hands-on experience with machinery (lathes, mills, sheet metal or similar)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desirable
- Experience supporting NPI / NPD projects
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication or assembly processes
- Exposure to injection moulding or filtration manufacturing
- Manufacturing Engineering Degree or similar
