Transport Compliance Assistant Location: Macclesfield SK10 Salary: £27000 Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Type: Permanent Are you an organised and detail-focused transport professional with a strong understanding of UK transport compliance, Operator Licensing and driver legislation? We are looking for an experienced Transport Compliance Assistant to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our transport operation remains fully compliant, safe and audit-ready. Working closely with the Transport Manager and wider transport team, you will take responsibility for maintaining accurate compliance records, monitoring driver and vehicle requirements, supporting audits and identifying potential compliance risks before they become an issue. The Role You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of transport compliance, ensuring that all driver, vehicle and operational records meet current legal, statutory and company requirements. Key Responsibilities Transport Compliance Maintain accurate transport compliance records and documentation. Monitor Operator Licence (O-Licence) requirements and ensure ongoing compliance. Track vehicle inspections, servicing, MOTs and preventative maintenance schedules. Ensure transport records are retained accurately and in line with legal and company requirements. Support internal and external compliance audits. Assist with regulatory inspections and investigations. Driver Compliance Monitor driver licence checks and Driver CPC requirements. Maintain accurate driver qualification, training and compliance records. Ensure tachograph downloads are completed and reviewed within required timescales. Assist with investigating driver infringements and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are completed. Support driver inductions and ongoing compliance training. Fleet Compliance Monitor vehicle defect reporting processes. Track maintenance schedules, inspections and vehicle documentation. Liaise with fleet providers, workshops and maintenance suppliers. Ensure all fleet documentation is current, accurate and readily available for audit purposes. Reporting & Administration Produce weekly and monthly compliance reports. Maintain transport management systems and compliance databases. Analyse compliance data and identify potential risks or areas for improvement. Communicate compliance updates to operational teams and management. Provide administrative support to the Transport Manager and wider transport function. About You We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and commercially aware, with excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in transport compliance. You will ideally have: A full UK driving licence. Good understanding of UK transport legislation and Operator Licensing requirements. Knowledge of Drivers' Hours and Tachograph legislation. Experience maintaining transport, driver or fleet compliance records. Strong administration and organisational skills. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies or potential compliance issues. Good analytical and reporting skills. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. The ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet deadlines. Desirable Experience It would be advantageous if you have experience with: OLAT or Operator Licence compliance. Transport Management or Fleet Management systems. FORS, DVSA and OCRS requirements.
