Are you an experienced Engineering Manager with a background in electronics product development and New Product Introduction (NPI)? Do you enjoy leading engineering teams, delivering innovative products from concept to production and developing high-performing engineers? We're supporting a leading engineering and technology business who are looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of innovative high-voltage power supply products.

As the Engineering Manager, you'll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for delivering high-quality New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering projects. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, Commercial teams and customers, you'll ensure engineering projects are delivered on time, to specification and ready for manufacture. This is a leadership role where you'll balance technical delivery, people development and continuous improvement while creating a high-performance engineering culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership
    • Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team
    • Manage performance, coaching, recruitment and succession planning
    • Create a collaborative, accountable and high-performing engineering culture
    • Establish engineering best practices including design reviews, documentation and change control
    • Balance engineering resource across NPI, sustaining engineering and value engineering activities
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
    • Lead projects from concept through to production launch
    • Manage project planning, delivery schedules and engineering resources
    • Oversee stage-gate reviews, project governance and risk management
    • Ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles are embedded throughout development
    • Support successful product industrialisation and production readiness
  • Customer & Commercial Collaboration
    • Work closely with customers and commercial teams to define product requirements
    • Translate customer needs into engineering deliverables and project plans
    • Present project updates, technical solutions and delivery plans to stakeholders
    • Build long-term customer confidence through clear communication and technical leadership
  • Sustaining Engineering & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead engineering activities relating to product improvements, cost reduction and obsolescence management
    • Drive root cause investigations and corrective actions
    • Support Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives
    • Promote continuous improvement across engineering processes and product development

What you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience leading an electronics engineering team
  • Strong track record delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through to production
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with customer-facing experience
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people development abilities
  • Strong project planning and resource management skills
  • Ability to balance technical delivery with commercial priorities

Technical experience

You’ll ideally have experience with:

  • Analogue electronics
  • High voltage power supplies
  • Control loops and power supply stability
  • Electronics product development
  • Design verification and validation
  • Engineering change control
  • Manufacturing and production support

Desirable

  • Experience within scientific instrumentation or high-performance electronic products
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and digital control
  • Experience working within regulated or safety-critical industries
  • Understanding of stage-gate product development processes
  • Exposure to compliance and product certification requirements
