Raw Materials Technologist Pontefract Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm £35,000 20% pension, 33 days holiday, subsidised canteen, death in service Raw Materials Technologist The Role You will provide Technical support to the factory management teams and act as a link between the material supplier and the factory. Your key responsibilities will include Liaises with suppliers and updates details in the supplier approval database. Escalates to the business where substantial changes to suppliers approval status have been identified. Specifies goods-in checks for each raw material based on risk assessment. Support the creation, implementation & maintenance of the sites raw material surveillance testing program. Owns the site material non-compliance process, supplied NCR database and monitors supplier performance through KPIs Where out of specification product is identified, ensures that product is suitably controlled, investigation is carried out and supplier is notified. Communicates to the business in a timely manner where gaps have been highlighted, to ensure minimal impact to the production schedule. Proactively identifies materials at risk from obsolescence through insufficient life. Arranges shelf-life extensions and communicates to the factory and planning teams accordingly. Issues and trends material concessions as required. Supports the supplier assurance activity. Completes supplier desktop evaluations and follows up on risks identified. Attends or leads supplier audits and technical visits as required. Attends supplier sites to cooperatively resolve quality issues of incoming products. Raw Materials Technologist The Candidate You will have the following skills, experiences and attributes Driving licence is essential as this role will involve travel between sites Internal audit qualification/lead auditor trained Minimum 2 years food manufacturing experience HACCP Level 2 Strong understanding of raw material and product microbiological and allergen testing requirements IFS/Sage user and capable of holding and releasing materials as necessary. Knowledge of UK major retailers requirements Knowledge of supplier raw material specifications Experience in undertaking a factory goods in assessment and the equipment utilised within the factory The Company Our client is a food production company that has an enviable reputation as a market leader.
