Training Manager in Hampshire, Stroud

Are you an experienced Training Manager or Learning & Development Manager with a strong background in manufacturing? Do you have experience developing competency frameworks, training strategies and learning programmes within a regulated environment, while leading and developing a training team? We're supporting a global manufacturing organisation in Petersfield who are looking for an experienced Training Manager to lead their site-wide training and capability development strategy. This is a senior position where you'll have the opportunity to shape how people are trained and developed across the operation, ensuring the workforce has the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to support Safety, Quality, Compliance and Operational Excellence. What's the role all about? As the Training Manager, you'll take ownership of training and capability development across a large manufacturing site. You'll look beyond simply delivering training courses. Your focus will be on understanding where the business has skills gaps, developing structured learning pathways and competency frameworks, and making sure training genuinely improves performance. You'll work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, EHS and HR, while leading a team of Training Coordinators and supporting Coaches, Process Team Leaders, Supervisors and subject matter experts involved in training delivery. You'll also take ownership of the site's Learning Management System (LMS), training compliance and audit readiness. What will you be doing? Develop and implement the site's training and capability strategy Lead and develop Training Coordinators, trainers, coaches and subject matter experts Conduct training needs analysis and identify current and future skills gaps Create annual training plans aligned with operational and business objectives Develop competency frameworks, learning pathways and development programmes Oversee classroom, on-the-job, digital, coaching and blended learning solutions Ensure training materials remain accurate, relevant and aligned with operational standards Manage training compliance across GMP, Health & Safety, Quality and regulatory requirements Maintain audit-ready training records, assessments and qualifications Act as the site's key contact for training-related audits and inspections Take ownership of the Learning Management System Manage training matrices, competency records and digital learning information Produce dashboards and reports covering training compliance, capability and effectiveness Develop the capability of managers, supervisors, trainers and operational leaders Build strong relationships across Operations, Quality, Engineering, EHS and HR Lead continuous improvement projects to improve training efficiency and learner experience Support wider site transformation, digitalisation and Operational Excellence initiatives What do you need? We're looking for someone with: Around 5 years' experience within Training, Learning & Development or Operational Excellence in manufacturing At least 3 years' leadership experience, ideally managing trainers, coordinators or subject matter experts CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Learning & Development or equivalent Train-the-Trainer qualification Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design Experience developing competency-based training frameworks Experience conducting Training Needs Analysis Strong understanding of GMP, Quality, Health & Safety and compliance requirements Experience managing training matrices and competency frameworks Strong Learning Management System experience Confidence using data to measure training compliance and effectiveness Excellent stakeholder management skills across all organisational levels Strong continuous improvement and problem-solving capability Experience with Cornerstone LMS would be particularly beneficial. Desirable It would also be beneficial if you have: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Project Management qualification Leadership & Management qualification Experience supporting transformation or digitalisation projects About you You'll be someone who sees training as much more than a compliance exercise.
