What's the role all about?

As a Production Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining, repairing and improving production equipment to maximise uptime, reliability and manufacturing performance. Working within a highly skilled Engineering team, you'll carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support continuous improvement initiatives across a modern manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on engineering role where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns using systematic fault-finding techniques
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
  • Support production changeovers and equipment set-ups
  • Improve machine reliability and minimise downtime
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system
  • Support equipment upgrades and engineering projects
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Promote safe working practices and comply with Health & Safety legislation
  • Ensure engineering work is completed to GMP and company quality standards

What you'll need:

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship or Level 3 Engineering qualification (NVQ/BTEC or equivalent)
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience carrying out preventative maintenance
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach

Desirable:

  • Multi-skilled engineering experience
  • PLC fault-finding experience
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Experience working with automated production equipment
  • GMP or regulated manufacturing experience
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement knowledge
