What's the role all about?
As a Production Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining, repairing and improving production equipment to maximise uptime, reliability and manufacturing performance. Working within a highly skilled Engineering team, you'll carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support continuous improvement initiatives across a modern manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on engineering role where no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns using systematic fault-finding techniques
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
- Support production changeovers and equipment set-ups
- Improve machine reliability and minimise downtime
- Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system
- Support equipment upgrades and engineering projects
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Promote safe working practices and comply with Health & Safety legislation
- Ensure engineering work is completed to GMP and company quality standards
What you'll need:
- Engineering Apprenticeship or Level 3 Engineering qualification (NVQ/BTEC or equivalent)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience carrying out preventative maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable:
- Multi-skilled engineering experience
- PLC fault-finding experience
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Experience working with automated production equipment
- GMP or regulated manufacturing experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement knowledge
